Hands of Love
J. Smetana/ D. MaddocksWhen we were younger
We would dream of all the things we had planned
Now the days go by and still we do the best that we can
These things are strange to me, like ancient historyWithin, without, connected by the hands of love
There is no doubt, directed by the hands of love
Nobody told me what it means to trust in what I believe
But now I know that I must hope in all that I cannot see
These things are changing me, a distant memoryWithin, without, connected by the hands of love
There is no doubt, directed by the hands of loveNo time to lose, the world is moving on
You have to choose what you really want
And someday soon you’ll find that you belong here after all...Within, without, connected by the hands of love
There is no doubt, directed by the hands of love
Come on sing out, protected by the hands of love
Within, without...
*Hands of Love- "My personal choice for our best song. I feel like the lyrics and music have a perfect counterbalance here. The production has the sense of drama that I was hearing in my head. Sort of ethereal and roomy in it’s overall sound, delicate but powerful where it needs to be. The verse guitar work that Dax and Justin put together is so sweet- It sets up the chorus very nicely. Those guys actually multi-tracked each note in the picking pattern and then stereo panned them to create that swirling effect. Content-wise, the song is talking about how you can look back and see that in all you’ve been through, mistakes and triumphs alike, God was controlling it all. It is a strange thing, because when you are going through something it makes no sense. But down the road aways, you can see the pattern or traces of a designing, guiding hand, always working for your good. It takes faith to see it that way, I know. But if you don’t try and do that, and believe in the midst of hard times, life is not so overwhelming and choked by fear. Think about it"- Jeff
